This is a studio portrait of Jen Prior. She is sitting in a room with a single light source coming from large arched windows in a 12' tall studio space in downtown guelph. She wears a black t-shirt and denim pants. Behind her is both a vivid abstraction painting on a large easel, as well as numerous paintings on the floor which demonstrate her prolific methods of painting. The image was taken at her studio space provided by Arts Build Ontario in downtown Kitchener, Ontario.

My paintings begin in the body before they reach the canvas through my hands - in feeling, in memory, in the familiar echo of light moving through water or across a forest floor.

Nature is my source but not my subject. I paint what nature does when no one is paying attention.
